Vacationing in Vietnam offers so many different activities you can do with your time there. Vietnam has a diverse landscape, featuring tropical lowlands, sprawling hills and packed forests engulfing the highlands of the country. Sapa
Situated in the country’s Northeast region, it is home to some truly wonderful hillsides and valleys all of which are teeming with diverse pant and wildlife. The Sapa village was originally built as a hillside station by the French in 1922. Now it offers one of the most phenomenal views in all of Vietnam, with the plunging valley’s that are decorated with rice paddies, the views of this area are wroth trekking for alone.
One such trek begins in the town of Sapa, in which you traverse down into the Muong Hoa Valley, with views of the surround mountainous areas including the Hoang Lien Son range. Continuing through the area you can meet the local indigenous people, see how they interact with the gorgeous land that surrounds them and simply take in all of the sights. This is just one example of the many treks of offer at this popular destination.
Mai Chau
A small town not too far from Hanoi, this area is perfectly quaint, and features some awe inspiring landscapes that you will want to explore in no time. A very rural area, there is nothing to disturb trekkers here. Wander through the endless green valleys, and hear the soft sounds of rivers and the paddy fields.This is not the most challenging locations to trek in, but it can be definitely described as one of the most peaceful. So if you fancy a quiet place to freely wander and take in the sights of the surrounding area, Mai Chau is perfect.
Cat Ba National Park
As a national park, there is a fair amount of scenic beauty for any would be trekkers to take in here. It is found on Cat Ba Island, Vietnam’s largest island, and features amazing jungle habitats along with beaches from the coast.There are several hikes and treks to be had in this location, with a challenging 18km trek to one of the mountain summits a particularly noteworthy option. Failing that, trekking through a diverse ecosystem of lush rainforest plant life with a great range of mammals and birds is always a great way to spend your time.
Ba Be Lake
If looking for somewhere to trek, why not take in the sights of Vietnam’s largest lake. It is situated in the Bac Kan Province, in the Northeast region of Vietnam. It is also the main focal point of the Ba Be national park so the entire area is just begging to be explored.Whether you want to navigate through the bustling forests, or take in some of the breath-taking waterfalls and caves dotted through the location, its perfect for any type of trek.
Lang Bian Mountain
This is definitely one for the more experienced trekkers, yet those who fancy a challenge are more than welcome to make the ascent. There are actually five peaks in this region all of which are accessible. A trek to the top takes around 3-4 hours from the starting point, and be prepared some truly mesmerising views upon reaching the summit.So there you have it, five of the best locations in all of Vietnam to get trekking in!
