At last I went to the Mekong

I grew up fascinated with the Mekong River. From Rudyard Kipling’s romantic writings about the Road to Mandalay to the nightly news items bring the latest events in the Vietnam War, it seems that the Mekong was a constant, throughout my youth. 50 years ago travel was very different and the idea that one day I would find myself on this most romantic of waterways, seemed unfathomable. But here I was buying fruit from vendors at a floating market, Actually in Phnom Penh and visiting the most incredible temples, including the best in the world, Angkor Wat. I am so pleased that I decided to make this trip, it was truly remarkable.
