Thung Khe Pass

Thung Khe pass in Highway 6, Hoa Binh province, between Tan Lac and Mai Chau, Thung Khe Pass or White Stone Pass  early in the morning is the clear sky and the night is fog all over the way. It was called White Stone Pass because after opening the road, white limestone rocks erased a cliff, from a far distance you can see a white color on the pass. Thung Khe Pass winds through the low mountains, the landscape changes constantly with mountain slope and endless green valleys.

Slopes down toward Mai Chau and the pass end at Tong Dau crossroads. Before that, you can admire the beautiful panorama of Mai Chau from the pass. Many people think that Thung Khe Pass is quite dangerous, especially in the bends. This is why you should be very careful when taking traffic here.

Thung Khe Pass is famous for its impressive beauty. Because this point has attracted many visitors visit this pass. While Highway 6 opens on one side of the mountain, one on the other side is a deep pool, at the top of Thung Khe Pass, there is a large plot of land lying in the area, enough to become a small market with rows of leaves and there have some simple tables. Standing here, you can also enjoy the panoramic view of the valley below with the dreamy look of lively scenery. It can be said that this is one of the most beautiful sight in Hoa Binh province.

At the beginning, Thung Khe pass only sell boiled corn is mainly, so that the long-distance drive to stop eating and rest. After this, many tourists passing by often stop to admire the scenery, enjoy some folk gifts, thanks to that, the items sold become more gradually rich, diverse.

At the peak of Thung Khe Pass, there is a small market selling all kinds of goods and specialties of the Northwest. Moc Chau is almost all year round cool, the high mountains always have fog covered the road, especially in winter, so Thung Khe market has many romantic travel called “the market in the clouds”.

Besides selling products of Moc Chau mountain forest, the market is also a place for travelers on the long trip to stop resting, fighting hunger with a boiled corn or a tube of rice, barbecue. The best thing about this market is that while eating, visitors can enjoy the panoramic view from the peak of the pass to the valley below.
