Located in Northern Laos, the medium-sized village of Pak Tha rests at the convergence of the two rivers: Mekong and Nam Tha. This is also a contented area for every traveler to stopover and relax during the journey between Huay Xai and Pakbeng. You can easily get on on the wonderful trip up the Nam Tha River to Luang Nam Tha from here. Lying atop the bank of the extended river Mekong, this place marks the section from where Laos parks itself on both sides of this river. Since Pak Tha does not have much thing happening, it is an ideal spot to recharge and freshen up in the peaceful atmosphere and friendly residents. Especially if you come here in the late afternoon, you can see a lot activities occur, as this is the time when the water level is low so the football games can be hold near the river banks. Tourists can also go to explore the daily market in the centre of the town. This can be considered as the focal point of almost activities where you will have chance to savor a bowl of noodle soup. Pak Tha offers few accommodation options with just basic facilities. Supaphon and Suphany in the central town are the best guesthouses where you can at least have some relaxing time after a tiring day. Foodstuff in Pak Tha is a do-it-yourself issue. There are two noodle shops worth to try out near the boat dock. The meat is a bit rubbery, but it does fill the spot.
