Dubbed the “underground palace”, Paradise Cave is one of the most magnificent and fanciful wonders over the world. The cave deeply nests in the heart of Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park world natural heritage. According to many experts, the cave is much more beautiful and marvelous than Phong Nha Cave, which is recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Paradise Cave is situated in Km 16, about 4km from the edge of the west branch of Ho Chi Minh trail in Son Trach commune, Bo Trach district, Quang Binh province. It is about 70 km from Dong Hoi city center to the northwest. It is also about 25km from the cave to Phong Nha Cave to the north of Truong Son road. It owns a length of more than 31.4 km; the width ranging from 30m to 100m, up to 150m at its widest point; the hight from the bottom up to the ceiling at about 60-80m. British Royal Cave Research Association appreciates Paradise Cave as the longest Dry Cave in Asia, one of the most spectacular caves the association surveyed over the world. Paradise Cave owns a breathtaking, magnificent and magical structure that discoverers easily think about a heaven palace on earth. In particular, the system of stalagmites and stalactites here retains a shimmering, fanciful beauty beyond the imagination of human.

The cave’s mouth is about 9m. Its ceiling is towering and immense. Particularly, the cave also maintains two giant stalactite columns with 5-meter diameter as the heavenly column architecture with unique multi-shapes. The cave’s entrance which is relatively small, just barely for one person down, beneath stone wool of hundreds of meters has a spectacular look. A slope leads down to the platform of 15m long. The steep is created sophisticatedly with countless big round stalactite beads. In addition, there are many collapsed remnants in both two sides of the slope, along with sprawling stalactite columns as undergoing tectonic processes. Interestingly, the subtle and magnificent beauty of the cave is gradually revealed when light shines on numerous magic stalactites. The entrance is quite narrow; however, when entering inside, tourists will actually admire the splendid space with the width of 200m, the tremendous and towering ceilings…

The system of stalactites in cave has been constructed incredibly diversely and variously in shape. Notably, Paradise Cave owns many images which are similar to the cultural symbols of regions in Vietnam country. Approaching deeper into cave are bizarre stone fibers with the flexible wave shape as terraces. On the walls, stalactites flowed like the garish multicolored curtains. In the middle of the cave, many stalactite columns appear as oval logo of wet rice civilization, as Cham tower shape, or unique communal house shape of ethnic minorities. Each stalactites block displaying its own beauty has created a mystical paradise. The system of stalactites continues to be erected thanks to water drops falling from the cave ceiling.

In particular, Quang Han Palace is actually unique with mass of drooping stalactites look like the curtain of fairies, or Quan Tien Palace is the convergence of Buddha Amitabha statues… The most impressive is Lotus Tower with palatial shapes truly captivating any tourists setting foot in here. These stalactites are formed from splashing water droplets through millions of years. They all made for the mysterious beauty of Paradise Cave.

Compared to that in Phong Nha Cave, stalactites in Paradise Cave retain more multi-shapes. Sometimes, tourists accidentally encounter a stalactite steep slope as the new formation and damp steam, step up but still hear crunching sound under their own foot. Some stalactites will light up like tinsel when receiving the light. They will flash as the multitude of stars at night. The majority of cave’s land is fairly soft, broad and flat. The temperature ranges 20 – 210C.

In addition, there are clear and heavily sweetened lakes in the cave. Interspersing in the system of stalactites is the shining shallow wells. Particularly, to serve tourist demands, a system of long wooden staircase through the middle of the cave has been built. This staircase adorned endless and pristine beauty of Paradise Cave.

Phong Nha – Ke Bang was beautiful, mesmerizing and highly recommended: Paradise Cave is on a whole another level and is worth the ideal attractions in Phong Nha – Ke Bang. All of formations here look like works of art; some are so dramatic. It is eventually hard to believe that they are creations of the nature. No wonder tourists find Paradise Cave more beautiful and mystic than Phong Nha Cave, which was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
