Famous traditional villages tourists must visit when visiting Da Nang

Here are some famous villages you should not miss when traveling to Da Nang.

1. Non Nuoc stone carving village

Perhaps no one can come to Ngu Hanh mountain without visiting​ Non Nuoc stone handicraft village. The village was established in 18th century by an artisan of Thanh Hoa named Huynh Ba Quat. In the 19th century, the whole village lived on this profession.

Under the skillful hands of local artisans, sophisticated artworks have been produced carefully then brought by the tourists throughout the world, even to countries like France, America, Australia,… In Non Nuoc, the most popular products are statues of Buddha, statues of animals, colorful bracelets carved sophisticatedly and elaborately.

Coming to Non Nuoc stone village, visitors often choose valuable and unique souvenirs, from tiny stones to dozens of big statues. Although there are many traditional stone carving villages, it can be said that only Non Nuoc village has truly brought this unique handicraft to the world.

2. Nam O fish sauce village

Nam O fish sauce village was formed in the early twentieth century. Long time ago, the special product of Nam O fish sauce village has long been known in the Southern​ Vietnam, and even outside the North. The thing that makes Nam O fish sauce special, perhaps, is the recipe. Nam O fish sauce is made from fishes, caught in March of lunar calendar, because this is the time when fish here has very high protein.

In addition, jars of salt fish must be made of jackfruit wood, the bottom of the jar must be filled with brooms and brush and filtered fish sauce redemption to ensure the fish sauce flavor.

In the past, Nam O was a small fishing village located near Cu De River, at the foot of Hai Van Pass, in Hoa Hiep Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City. Visiting Nam O village, visitors won’t only have chance to see the process of making this famous fish sauce, but also to buy some bottles of fish sauce as a gift to relatives and friends.

3. The village of Tuy Loan rice paper

Tuy Loan village, Hoa Phong commune, Hoa Vang district is famous for making rice paper and Quang noodle. This rice paper making village has existed for almost 200 years. The main product of the village is grilled rice cake. The grilled rice paper here is better and thicker than other types of rice paper and the quality of the cake is highly appreciated by consumers as well.
