Home to over four million inhabitants, it's a sprawling city, the streets interspersed with parks and lakes, much of its allure stemming from the colourful street life. Marvel at the glittering Shwedagon Pagoda, wander the cobblestone streets of Bogyoke Market or simply watch the rickshaw drivers in their striped longyis (sarongs) peddle lazily through the streets as you sip on a cup of tea at a roadside tea stall.
Yangon has a good choice of restaurants serving both authentic Burmese cuisine and international choices. Ask your guide for personal recommendations.
After a short flight to Bagan, spend today explore the ancient temples of Bagan with your private guide. Wander past architectural masterpieces and towering pagodas as you learn about the historical and cultural significance of these buildings. Take a relaxing boat cruise up the Irrawaddy River to the lesser-known temple of Kyauk Gu U Min and observe fabulous scenes of life on the water.
This morning fly from the planes of Bagan to the tranquil waters of Inle Lake. Surrounded by the Shan Hills, embark on a boat trip through stilted villages, past leg-rowing fishermen, and unique pagodas. Explore the cottage industries of the lake's residents before enjoying dinner and stunning views at your lakeside hotel.
Today continue exploring Inle Lake and its surroundings. Travel by boat to the Pa-Oh village of Indein and take an easy trek to a nearby village where a gourmet picnic lunch will be served. This afternoon relax with a canoe ride past the stilted houses and floating gardens of the Intha people.
After breakfast, spend a leisurely morning around the Inle Lake before flying back to Yangon. Transferring to the Airport for your onward flight.
