U Bein Bridge is a crossing that spans the Taungthaman Lake near Amarapura in Myanmar. The 1.2-kilometre bridge was built around 1850 and is believed to be the oldest and longest teakwood bridge in the world. According to inhabitants, the bridge was built from logs taken from the palace in Amarapura, when King Mindon decided to move the capital to Mandalay in 1857. This bridge is considered as a symbol of Myanmar. U Bein Bridge is voted by CNN’s Travel as one of the sites to watch the most beautiful sunset around the world.
