For those who were not there – and including Rudyard Kipling of “The Road to Mandalay” – referring to “Mandalay” often evoked Asian imagery in the most endless and traditional way. The early reality could be a major resistance – a congested traffic network of straight roads that could not pass through anonymous concrete buildings. But do not despair – despite being a relatively young and dynamic city, Mandalay is the cultural capital of Myanmar.

It’s easy to get rid of the smoke and normal architecture of the main streets in the city’s full range of craft workshops and monasteries under the shade of trees.

Mandalay temples , Yankin and Yedagon Hills welcome exceptions to the flat terrain of the city, and some small theaters introduce traditional performing arts. Meanwhile, Mandalay is the main transport hub of northern Myanmar and offers a range of easy destinations throughout the day, including the four royal capitals of the past and information about the world’s largest towers.
