Hoi An - A Timeless Tapestry of History

Hoi An, a town steeped in history and heritage, flourished as a prosperous port from the 16th to the 19th centuries. During this period, it attracted merchants from China, Japan, India, Indonesia, and Europe who came to trade in silk, spices, and porcelain. Today, Hoi An's UNESCO World Heritage Old Quarter stands as a beautifully preserved testament to this rich history. Its streets are lined with ornate pagodas, antique trading houses, and old tile-roofed shops.

Hoi An's architectural beauty is a captivating fusion of Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and European styles. Many of the historic buildings, which grace the banks of picturesque canals and pedestrian streets, have been lovingly converted into art galleries, charming boutique restaurants, bars, and cafes. Hoi An's allure extends beyond its historic center, as it is encircled by captivating countryside featuring traditional farming and fishing practices, as well as sandy beaches adorned with modern seaside resorts.

Two Worlds of Hoi An: Downtown and Beach

For your stay in Hoi An, you have the choice between two captivating options:

• Hoi An Downtown: This area places you within easy walking distance of shops, cafes, restaurants, tourist attractions, and the vibrant nightlife that the town has to offer.

• Hoi An Beach: Located approximately 15 to 20 minutes away by car, this option is ideal for beach lovers seeking sun, sea, and sand.

On this particular morning, your local guide will lead you off the beaten tourist path to delve into the authentic local life of the people. Here, you'll go beyond the tourist hotspots to discover the soul of the town, exploring small alleyways, capturing unique photographs, and enjoying a cup of local coffee.

Later, you'll have the opportunity to delve into Hoi An's vibrant street food scene during a guided walking tour. Your knowledgeable guide will take you to places you might not uncover on your own. Sample local delights as you wander through narrow lanes and tree-lined boulevards. This adventure will not only tantalize your taste buds but also provide you with insights into the city's food culture, enabling you to feel confident when ordering local cuisine for the rest of your journey.

Begin the day with your guide picking you up at the hotel on a motorbike. Your journey will take you to Tra Que Village, where you will explore and return to the river to board a local ferry to Kim Bong Village. This village is renowned for both wood carving and weaving sleeping mats, providing you with the chance to see how mats were woven for everyday use in earlier times before today's popular mattresses became commonplace.

You'll visit a local family to witness the creation of the famous local noodle, Mi Quang. Moreover, you'll learn how to make and enjoy the perfect banh dap (rice cracker). As you ride into a small village, prepare for an adrenaline-pumping adventure as you cross a 300-meter bamboo bridge over the river to the opposite side of the island, revealing a new landscape with a seafront view. The journey will then take you to Duy Hai market and harbor.

Here, a local ferry ride will transport you to Cam Thanh village, framed by water coconut palm trees. You'll savor a delicious lunch at Cam Thanh homestay. Afterward, you'll return to your hotel by motorbike.

Cham Island presents an excellent opportunity for travelers to explore the mesmerizing underwater world. Beneath the waves, an enchanting realm of brilliant coral, colorful fish, and various marine life awaits your discovery. Spend the day snorkeling and exploring the island's unique offerings. Following your aquatic adventures, you'll have the choice to either transfer to Bai Chong beach or remain onboard for a second round of snorkeling.

Enjoy a sumptuous Vietnamese seafood lunch at a Cham jungle restaurant. You can relish the beach's embrace, indulge in some hammock time, go swimming, or engage in more snorkeling (masks, snorkels, and a guide are provided).
