Mekong Delta River Tours 5 Days

Having been in Vietnam for 2.5 weeks already we were on the final leg of our trip. We had pre booked the 2 day tour and motorbike tour. Our wonderful, charismatic, knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide had arrived in Saigon with a driver to pick us up at 4:30am to travel to Can Tho, it’s easy to overlook such a small thing but it goes to show Asia Tour Advisor goes the extra mile in planning these tours, Our guide had been up since 12am travelling from Can Tho. Our guide to meet and greet us at 4:30am was excellent.

From Can Tho we visited the floating where we ate a wide selection of fruit and probably the best Pho in our entire trip. We still talk about it to this day! Our guide was wonderful and delightful she provided a lot of insight into the origins of the floating market and how it has changed over time which was really interesting. We then visited the noodle factory where we saw how rice noodles were made and ate a out of this world rice noodle pizza!
After finishing up at the noodle factory we embarked on a hour journey to the local homestay, what a wonderful journey this was! driving down the Mekong delta in a boat admiring the local wildlife on either side. The local homestay was absolutely perfect, it was on a local fruit which was amazing as we wandered into the field with Our guide and sampled lots of great tasting fruit straight off the tree’s. I still think back about my admiration for this farm/area and dream about leaving everything behind in the UK and moving out here as it was true serenity.
In the afternoon we embarked on a cycling trip around the local area during which another member of Asia Tour Advisor Tour joined us – Linh. Our guide took us around the local area and showed us the large fishing nets used by locals on the side of the Mekong along with numerous monkey bridges used by humans to cross the Mekong. We stopped by a local shop and indulged in ice cold sugar cane drinks and got to know our guide and Linh a bit more which was wonderful. As we rode back to the homestay Linh departed as he would see us the next on the motorbike tour (again another wonderful personal touch as he had come to meet us prior to the tour). Returning back at the homestay we freshened up and our guide showed us how to make spring rolls. The local family we were staying with were extremely kind and accommodating. As we waited for dinner to be prepared we were in a state of true relaxation, swinging in our hammocks, feet up, sipping on freshly made ice cold mandarin juice. Dinner was absolute perfection, again probably the best food we had on the entire trip, home cooked, fresh and lots of it!
On the second day of the tour we were up early again at 4:30am as we were visiting the second floating market. Words cannot describe the experience of floating down the Mekong Delta during sunrise! It was yet again another wonderful experience and Our guide made sure we experienced a lot of local delicacies. We then embarked on a hour long trip to the Cacao farm, we ventured deeper into the Mekong where the natural scenery was just majestic. As we arrived at the Cacao farm we were greeted by Linh and 3 other members of the Asia Tour Advisor Tour company, Our guide handed over to Linh and bid us farewell. Linh showed us around Cacao farm and explained how Cacao beans are grown and harvested to produce Cacao chocolate along with the manufacturing process to produce the various Cacao products. The owner of the farm Mr Diamond was also present; he explained a lot of history behind the farm.
We then ventured out of the farm on our motorbike tour which was a truly wonderful experience. Led by Linh we visited many local historic and religious landmarks; Linh was extremely knowledgeable in providing information about the local beliefs, history and culture along with help from his 3 other colleagues. The motorbike tour was a truly mesmerising experience; it didn’t feel like we were on a tour but instead out with friends!

I would just like to thank Asia Tour Advisor for running such a authentic tour experience and having the most wonderful and knowledgeable staff. Linh were truly fantastic and accommodating, they were more like our friends than tour guides.
I simply cannot recommend this tour enough, it is a truly unique experience with local people who know the area and are passionate about it.

Our tour guide was Hong and he explained the details quite clearly and was very helpful in aiding us to get on and off the boat, considering we had 2 elders. the price and the experience that we got was overall worth it and really enjoyable.

We spent some time there and check also other Guides and Agencies, but for sure this was best possible tour regarding to satisfaction/price ratio. Most other tours we met on river just went to see market and spent more than double price. We were really satisfied with Ms Khanh. She speaks perfectly English, and showed us a big part of river outside of Market. We spent trip in Cai Be and we were not bored for a single minute. Worth it! Big recommendation. One of best experiences in Vietnam.

Very nice morning tour to the floating markets of Can Tho! We also went to the Cacao farm and the noodle factory! The last one was a little touristy, but the food super good! Our guide was Linh, who was super friendly and told us a lot about the area! Would reocmmend booking a tour here! We even thought about booking another tour for the second day but decided against it because it was a little too similar to the first one and also expensive! Anyway, super friendly staff and very nice tour!

What a great experience. We were picked up from our hotel in Ho Chi Minh City by our guide and our driver. We were then driven to the Cu Chi tunnels where Our guide gave us a very informed tour of the tunnels. After the tour we were driven to a local place for lunch, which was delicious, but maybe a bit off the beaten track. We then proceeded to be driven the 4 hours to Can Tho. We were dropped off at our hotel.
We were driven to a jetty and then boarded a small, comfortable boat for our floating market tour. It was imperative to be on a smaller boat which gave us the opportunity to actually mingle with the market boats, buy fruit and coffee and get a proper local experience. We got off the boats for a breakfast of noodle soup and iced coffee which was delicious. Being on a smaller boat enabled us to go into smaller tributaries and really get up close and personal with the locals. We didn’t see any other tourist boats while on this tour. We also had the chance to try our hand at rowing the boat which was fun! We also visited a rice noodle factory and had the most amazing lunch of a rice noodle pizza, which i think is the best thing I’ve eaten in Vietnam. There were other tour groups at the noodle factory but none of them stayed and ate this! We were driven back to our hotel for a rest. At 1pm we were collected by another tour guide for our cycle trip along the banks of the Mekong Delta. We were very apprehensive about this as we are not the fittest bunch and it’s hellish hot, but we were hugely surprised by the easiness of this cycle trip. Think it was the highlight of our day!

Our tour guide, I think her name is spelt Kieu spoke excellent English.We were in a small shallow draw boat, which was a big advantage over the large boats as we went in between the market boats.We were there before all the “tourists ” got there.We had coffee and delicious fruit from surrounding boats.Our guide explained what the fruit was and how the market worked.Just after dawn we had breakfast on the upper deck of a nearby restaurant overlooking the market,and the big tourist boats that were just arriving.We were taken through a myriad of channels in the delta where only our small boat could go.We really enjoyed the tour and would highly recommended Asia Tour Advisor

We made this tour expecting a tour to the floating markets. We got so much more out of it. After visiting the markets we made a very extensive tour through the rivers of mekong delta having stops at some very interesting places. Breakfast and lunch were included, which was very nice. We were lucky to have a very nice and open tour guide who we could talk to about everything! 🙂 Thank you AsiaTourAdvisor and team!

We were lucky that another Mekong Tour operator didn’t reply to our email because we found Asia Tour Advisor. From start to finish this company gave great service. We sorted everything out from hcmc including a luxury limo service which took us down to Can Tho.
The evening we arrived we dropped by the office and chatted with the staff about the plan for the next day….an early start to get to the floating market when it is busy.
I cant remember our guides name but he was very friendly, excellent English and took great care of us all day. I give these guys 10 stars and highly recommend them.
