As a capital of Vietnam, Hanoi doesn’t only possess a treasure of historical monuments and cultural sites such as theaters, museums, temples, and many buildings of the French colonial era, but also a center of entertainment sites with lots of destinations for you to meet up your friends, have party or enjoy performances of underground artists, such as parks, night clubs, lakeside, or walking street.

Music club in Hanoi

If you’re someone who loves music, then dining out in music clubs, which serve the food as well as the music, can give you a chance to enjoy the great music from the performances of live bands while having the delicious food. Some clubs also invite professional artists for song and dance performances.

If you’re someone who is always curious about the traditional performances of Vietnam, then there’s no way you can miss theaters, an important aspect of Vietnamese culture and especially the Water Puppet Theater which is known throughout the world for its splendid performances. There is also “cheo” this is a local theater in which drama is enacted along with songs and music.

If you frequently visit nightclubs, Hanoi will not disappoint you. There are several nightclubs in Hanoi which play a wide range of music mostly dance numbers which pull you to the dance floors. And a visit to an amusement park is definitely a must if you are accompanied by children. Fortunately the West Lake Water Park in Hanoi provides entertainment to people of all age groups. There are water slides with tube rides, a tube lake and wave forming pools.

And don’t forget to visitHo Chi Minh Mausoleum to pay respect to the dead leader! In the mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh’s mummified body is put on display; you can later visit the Ho Chi Minh’s House to find out about the great leader and founder of modern Vietnam.

One of the biggest attractions of Hanoi is the Van Mieu or the Temple of Literature. It is a prime example of the ancient Vietnamese architecture. Another interesting historic place in Hanoi is the One Pillar Pagoda. The Quan Su Pagoda is also a must see place in Hanoi has miraculously survived destruction from fire on two occasions. It is a learning place for the young monks.

Hanoi also has some beautiful lakes such as the Bay Mau Lake, the Hoan Kiem Lake, Thu Le Lake, the West Lake and the Thien Quang Lake, and of course, taking a promenade along the lakeside with someone you love will be extremely romantic, right!

And if you’re in love with the French ancient colonial architecture, then there are several buildings built by the French during their occupation of Hanoi. The Presidential Palace, the Grand Opera House, the Post Office, St. Joseph’s Cathedral etc are some fine examples of the French architecture.
