Sapa in Northwest Vietnam is an area of astonishing beauty and has over the years developed into the centre of trekking activity for the country’s blossoming tourism industry. The mountainous scenery here is ideal for trekkers and the capital city of the area, which bears the same name has many very good hotels, cafes and bars now, in which walkers can relax and enjoy their evenings after a hard day’s walking.

Travelers should experience the following new things in Sapa tours

There is plenty to see and do in the region. Here is a list of some of the highlights that should be included on any itinerary:

Trekking Sapa

Trekking. After all this is what Sapa is all about. Whether you are a complete novice or an experienced walker, Sapa has much to offer. The scenery as one treks through the mountainous valleys is really stunning. Terraced rice paddies cut into the mountainsides provide a superb visual backdrop. Many walks are one day affairs starting and finishing in Sapa town. Though for the fitter and more adventurous there are two and three day walks that really get one up close and personal with the area.

Visit the life of ethnic people

Ethnic Hill Tribe people are to be found living and trading in the area. Vietnam has 54 indigenous ethnic tribes and eight of them are found here. H’mong, Dao, Tay, Giay, Muong, Thai, Hoa and Xa Pho. The population of the district is estimated at almost 32,000 of which 52% are H’mong, 25% are Dao, 15% are Kinh, 5% are Tay and 2% are Giay. Sapa town itself has a population of around 3,300. The rest of the area is made up of peasant farmers who are distributed unevenly throughout the district. Some of these tribes are extremely small in number these days and efforts are being made to help them safeguard their future existence. For example the Muong, Thai, Hoa and Xa Pho tribes added together only account for about 500 people.

Experience homestay service

Home Stay visits are extremely popular in Vietnam tours. Instead of opting for a hotel, many travellers like to experience the real way of life here by staying with a local family. These types of accommodations have been developing with the help of tourism agencies for a few years now and are an extremely good way of seeing local life and meeting local people.

Enjoy the sunset

Whilst this sounds like a simple pleasure it is something that will provide lifelong memories. Sit on a hotel balcony enjoying a quiet cocktail as the sun slips away. This really is one of life’s great pleasures. Trekking sapa tours is great idea to explore the beauty of nature in the north of Vietnam you should enjoy.

Heaven’s Gate and the Silver Waterfall. It is possible to experience both these natural features on a single day trip. A 30 minute car ride out of Sapa town takes you to the waterfall, here you can enjoy the natural beauty of the waterfall and swim in the small lake. You can take a walk through the lush forests and continue on to Heaven’s Gate. From here the views are astonishing and Mount Fansipan, the highest in the country at over 10,000 feet is fully in view.

Conquer Mount Fansipan

Ethnic Day Markets. The markets that are run and used by local ethnic people have been a colourful part of the fabric of life here for generations. The famous “Love Market” in downtown of Sapa, where people come in hope of finding their life’s partner and couples come to renew their love, is one of the star attractions. However there are many more. Coc Ly (Tuesdays), Lung Khau Nhin (Thursdays), Can Cau (Saturdays) and Bac Ha (Sundays), are all located in the surrounding mountainous area, within 70 miles or so from Sapa town.

These are just a few of the exciting things to see and do in this amazing part of the world. Sapa has much to offer and all with the most amazing scenery as your backdrop.
