The rest of the area is made up of peasant farmers who are distributed unevenly throughout the district. Some of these tribes are extremely small in number these days and efforts are being made to help them safeguard their future existence. For example the Muong, Thai, Hoa and Xa Pho tribes added together only account for about 500 people.
