1. The first stelae of doctors
Location: 58 Quoc Tu Giam St., Đống Đa District, Hanoi
The Hanoi Temple of Literature holds 82 steles of doctors from 1484 to 1780, giving the names and birthplace of 1,307 Ph.Ds from 82 examinations held from 1442 to 1779. The first was carved for the 1442 Ph.D. exam, the last one carved for the 1779 exam.
These steles were made of an emerald stone exploited from An Thach mountain Dong Son district, Thanh Hoa. They were unevenly sized, symmetrically located on either side of Thien Quang well. They were placed on the back of turtles to express the respect for sage and eternal existence.
2. The oldest Citadel
Location: Co Loa commune, Dong Anh District,Hanoi

Co Loa Citadel was built by king An Duong Vuong more than 23 centuries ago, the oldest citadel on the land of Hanoi. Co Loa was built in 225 BC, the capital when Thuc Phan – An Duong Vuong founded Au Lac. This is the oldest and most special military architecture in Vietnam.
3. First Vietnam University of Fine Arts
It is the Indochine Arts College opened in Hanoi on October 17, 1924, by Victor Tardieu, a French painter with the passion for painting.

Up to the Revolution of August 1945, the school has trained 17 courses, including 13 courses with many later famous artists and sculptors of Vietnam such as To Ngoc Van, Nguyen Phan Chanh, Nguyen Gia Tri, Bui Xuan Phai, Tran Van Can, etc.
4. Hanoi medical university is the first one of this type in Vietnam
In 1902, the French government decided to establish the first medical university of the Indochinese peninsula following the western model in Vietnam – Hanoi University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
The first principal of the school was a well-known physician: Dr. Yersin. On November 15, 1945, Hanoi Medical University opened the first school year of an independent country.
5. The unique garden with 3 areas (north-central-south) fruits
It is Uncle Ho’s home garden, where he lived and worked from May 17, 1958, until he passed away. There is a beautiful cobbled road with mango trees on both sides in the large garden behind the Presidential Palace.

6. The birthplace of photography in Hanoi
It is Lai Xa village, Kim Chung commune, Hoai Duc District. The most well-trained photographer from 1900s to 1910s in Hanoi was Khanh Ky, a native of Lai Xa village.
So when this career has been prosperous, he came back his hometown to encourage people to learn photography.
Led and encouraged by him gradually there born hundreds of skilled photographers from Lai Xa village and spread everywhere to build up their own career. Later on, this profession became traditional and passed down for many generations in the village.
7. Long Bien bridge, the oldest iron bridge in Hanoi
The 1862m long Long Bien bridge was built from 1899 to 1902, including 19 steel beams span and stone path. The bridge was named Paul Doumer (the name of Governor-General of Indochina), but Hanoians are still known as Long Bien Bridge or Song Cai Bridge.

In the early twentieth century, Long Bien was one of the four largest bridges in the world, the largest iron and steel plant in the Indochinese peninsula.
Long Bien Bridge is a bridge that has gone through 3 centuries. At the top of the bridge, there is a plaque inscribed with “1899-1902 – Daydé & Pillé – Paris”. 108 years have passed, but images of the past seem to be settling down on each span.
