Shwe Yaunghwe Kyaung was built almost entirely of wood combined with cement-style stairs on stilts. The small monastery located just off the road from Pindaya cave to Inle Lake consists of two buildings. And one of which is the main hall for monks living and studying while one where monks sleep and eat.

It is easy to see the monastery façade with two oval oval windows in the center and four other windows divided on two sides, below are wooden floor pillars on the cement floor.

Not as sophisticated as Shwenandaw in Mandalay, Shwe Yaunghwe Kyaung attracts visitors by the rustic and old-fashioned color of time and poverty.

Actually, if the monastery was magnificently decorated rather than roofed roofs have lost color and decorative marbled steel though sophisticated but has become rusty. The young monks do not talk much with visitors but are very friendly.

All the hustle and bustle of the lunch gulp echoed, all the hustle and bruises of his own black painted kitchen toward the dining area, an empty house with a few tables and a spreading table.

A group of older monks, like the abbot and the manager, divide the rice for each person. Then hold the food and vegetables at each table for distribution.

Meal takes place in silence, occasionally saw some mischievous boy leaning over the table teasing you. But just for a moment, most people quietly eat all their rice.

After the monks had eaten more than half a meal, we can see a group of older monks sitting in the dining table at the corner of the house. After having eaten, they bring their own bowls to wash and bring them to the storage room.

The quietness of the Shwe Yaunghwe Kyaung monastery at noon will make visitors wary. The small shadow of the monks in the cassock blaze around the yard like cats.

The doorways were bustling in the moment with a smile, their shoulders, their crosses now becoming silent and silent, as no one had ever pictured on the door frame, as a passage. All of them will make you think you’re dreaming because of their peaceful and beautiful.
